The 3 SOBs met while attending a Walk with Christ on a weekend retreat. After throwing together a midnight jam-fest late into the evening, the Shades of Blue band was founded! Thank you, Lord!
Bryan has a degree in Music Education from Southwest Texas State University, (San Marcos, TX) and has been an active music educator, private lesson instructor, performer, composer, arranger in the Austin/Hill Country area since 1997. Although he has performed with a plethora of bands, and on a variety of instruments, Shades of Blue marks his maiden voyage as a lead vocalist and band leader.
In the 74th year of the 20th Century after our Lord's untimely passing on a small Texas Island known as Galveston, there was a boy named after his great grandfather of the "Great Scotts", whom everyone called Skipper. When Skipper was a wee little boy he enjoyed many things; mainly fishing, FutBol and hitting Whittlin Sticks on anything he could find just to see what kind of noise it would make. He would thoroughly enjoy hitting his siblings with these Whittlin Sticks and nearly two Scores later, that same curiosity would lead himself into a Blues Band that was made of many Shades!
Dean fell in love with the bass guitar at an early age while watching and listening to his dad play "the bottom”. HIs love for blues started with an obsession for anything-SRV. He's played in various praise bands throughout the Hill Country and has performed in various venues with a few bands in New York City. True-story... he prayed that one day, when his two daughters went off to college, he would find a solid group of fun musicians and be able to play some blues around the Hill Country. God answered!
